Notes

  • WUTU WUPATU, formed in 1992, took its name from a short story by the celebrated Greek novelist of the turn of the century, Alexandros Papadiamantis. All three musicians have been mainstays of the local jazz scene for more than fifteen years and worked together in various constellations since the early 80´s.
  • This album features both the trio´s own compositions as well as some reconstructions and improvisational ´assaults´ on traditional Greek folk tunes. Improvisation, Jazz, Greek and contemporary classical music manifest their presence, but none tries to monopolize the listener´s interest for longer than necessary.
  • WUTU WUPATU strikes an ideal balance between free form and organisation and has come up with an excellent and instantly gratifying album.
